Where 90s Anime Meets the Diaspora

Our founder grew up watching anime with her sisters and always loved the rich storytelling found in these shows. She thought: why not take a relic of her childhood and weave it into the bold color and pattern she grew up around in the African diaspora.

Every art piece she designed by hand, inspired by the world and memories around her. No AI. Not in the art, not ever.

We drafted our pattern on a plus-size body, with a full bust and full arms. This is where clothes usually fit tight and uncomfortable for our founder, so that is where we started. Most brands take a size medium and make it wider and call it plus-size. We flipped the process, so that oversized clothing actually drapes oversized on us.

Somebody Drew This

Somebody drew this. An artist sat down and drew it by hand. The stitching is satin stitch, which is dense. Dense costs time. You can see it in the sun.

The Lava Lamp has gold seed beads on the back, set one at a time.

These are photos of the sample. We will show you the real thing when it lands.
